Stefanel, a global player in the clothing industry, has been listed on the Milan Stock Exchange since 1987. The company was launched in the 1970s when Giuseppe Stefanel joined his father’s firm, Maglificio Piave. The first Stefanel shop opened in Siena in 1980, and by 1982 the company had opened its first shop outside Italy, in Paris. Through a series of acquisitions and international alliances, Stefanel grew to become a large industrial group at the end of the 1980s and diversified its production of knitwear by adding sportswear, jeans and pret-à-porter. Stefanel has become associated with technological innovation coupled with a love of craft and an attention to the creative avant garde.
