Who is eligible for Tax Free Shopping?
As a visitor to Singapore, you are entitled to apply for GST refund if you:
For travellers departing on international cruises from the cruise terminals, it is no longer possible to claim a GST refund on purchases made on or before 30 June 2017, due to change of regulation.
How to Shop Tax Free
Ask shop staff for a Global Blue eTRS ticket when paying for your tax free purchases. You’ll be asked to show your passport and valid social visit stamp. Show your Global Blue SHOP TAX FREE Card to auto-fill your personal details on to the eTRS ticket.
At the airport, before check-in, go to the eTRS kiosk with your goods, receipts, passport and eTRS tickets. Follow the instructions to validate your eTRS ticket and receive your refund to your credit card. Keep your receipts and unused purchases together as you may be required to show your goods and original invoice/receipt at the Customs Inspection Counter. Credit card refunds will be paid to your account within eight working days.
For cash refund (Changi Airport only)
Select cash refund on the eTRS kiosk. Upon approval of your eTRS ticket by Singapore Customs, you will receive a notification slip to claim your GST refunds and you must depart with your goods within 12 hours. Proceed to the GST Cash Refund Counter located in the Departure Transit Lounge after immigration to receive your refund in cash. GST Cash admin fee from SGD100 to SGD199 is payable for cash refunds exceeding SGD7,500 (single or multiple receipts).
To claim the refund, you must not be a Singapore Citizen or a Permanent Resident of Singapore.
Tax Free goods:
Refunds are paid on goods that are exported in the traveller’s personal luggage.
Exported goods must be sealed and unused.
All refund payments for GST refunds in Singapore are processed by Global Tax Free.
