A new service to help travellers complete their tax refund

Travellers are now able to manage their tax refunds on their phones while they shop abroad, thanks to a new service from Global Blue.

Launched in March 2017, Mobile Customer Care (MCC) guides globe shoppers through their tax refund via real-time SMS and emails, triggered by their tax free purchase.

For the first time, travellers can see all their recent tax free purchases listed together, with simple instructions on how to complete the refunds, all on a new mobile-optimised website.

Last but not least, MCC also offers travellers the option of setting a Refund Reminder using their departure date and airport. The day before they fly home, Global Blue will send personalised directions to their nearest customs desk and explain where to claim their refund, saving time and avoiding stress at the airport.

Initially offered in a choice of Chinese, Russian and English languages, MCC has been designed to support international travellers as they enjoy Tax Free Shopping.  

A number of luxury department stores in Milan, Amsterdam and London were selected to pilot this service, which proved extremely popular with travellers and stores. A full global launch is planned for autumn 2017.
