Is Apple preparing to release the iPad Air 2?

We take a look at the rumours surrounding the new iPad Air 2 tablet – due for release later this year, it is likely to feature an innovative fingerprint TouchID system

Marina Nelson,

As news leaks online of the iPad Air 2, Apple’s successor to the iPad Air, due to be released this autumn, Global Blue takes a look at what we can expect from the new tablet.

Hailed as a mini gaming machine, the new model is set to have up to 10-fold improvement of graphics and speed, minus the need for flash.

As social media access becomes a primary function of smartphones and tablets, it is rumoured that the iPad Air 2’s front-facing camera will increase from 1.2 to 1.5 megapixels, while the main camera lens increases to 8MP from the iPad Air’s current 5MP.

The most innovative change is likely to be the much-talked-about TouchID system, previously seen on the iPhone 5s; the device is unlocked by the touch of the user’s fingerprint, enhancing the security of precious data.
