Emily Scrivener,

Stop your body and mind switching on to autopilot during the same old gym routines with an intensive workout class. High impact, fat burning and great fun, these classes are perfect for when a run around the park just won’t cut it.

For those who are looking to inject some added vigor into their regular fitness routine, Frames mixture of classes (around 600 classes on their timetable each week across both studios) are sure to inspire and push you beyond your comfort zone. Choose from yoga, Pilates, dance, fitness or special fusion classes such as Body by frame, which uses a combination of low impact cardio and high-energy intervals as well as light hand weights to boost your metabolism and encourage maximum fat loss. Although permanently based in two locations, Frame also holds pop-up classes at various locations around London, ranging from rooftops to nightclubs, creating fun one-off experiences to keep you on your toes.

Ballet Body Sculpture
Ballet classes have recently soared in popularity since models and celebrities were snapped at the barre. For those wanting to develop ballerina-like poise and grace but with no previous dance experience, we love Ballet Body Sculpture, which combines elements from ballet, Pilates and dance with stretching and fitness. The class is tailored around you and will help you develop core strength and graceful posture from your very first session.

Hotpod Yoga
For those looking to strengthen both body and mind, hot-yoga brand Hotpod Yoga may be the one to try. Based on Vinyasa-flow yoga, the classes take place inside an inflatable pod, heated to 37 degrees Celsius to encourage concentration and relaxation. On average, 700 calories are burnt making it ideal for those wanting to lose weight, tone up and de-stress. More experienced yogi, or those seeking to be challenged further, may wish to try out the new Dynamic Flow class, a high-intensity session with challenging postures and greater calorie burn. Hotpod Yoga runs both in-office and public classes.

After its success in France, Italy and New York, Aquallure has brought its aquatic bikes to London. The bikes are submerged to waist level to provide the ultimate resistance training without the weights. Proven to use core muscles and burn up to 800 calories per hour, the pool-based cycling classes are popular with beginners and athletes alike. Aqua cycling reduces the pressure on joints by up to 90% while providing 12 times the resistance of air. This means you can strengthen and tone your body with a zero-gravity feeling, and recover faster.
