Deliciously Ella Garden and Deli
Ella Woodward, founder of Deliciously Ella, expands her healthy eating empire this month. Her new pop-up in the City, the Deliciously Ella Garden and Deli, offers city workers a place to enjoy a selection of salads, stews, smoothies and cakes. Set in converted sheds in a scenic garden setting in Broadgate’s centrally located Exchange Square, just behind Liverpool Street station, it is the latest spot to enjoy healthy food this summer, and is open until 4 June.

Ollie Dabbous, one of London’s most acclaimed chefs, this month opens his new destination restaurant, created in collaboration with the Experimental Group. The new restaurant in the Henrietta Hotel in Covent Garden will offer British cuisine with French touches and an emphasis on simple, seasonal food. Designed by Dorothée Meilichzon, Henrietta is one of this month’s most striking dining settings.

1 May: Blondies Kitchen Selfridges pop-up
Milk and cookie bar Blondies Kitchen will be offering freshly baked cookies in a new Selfridges pop-up this May. The menu’s six cookie types include the signature Cookie Icon combination of two classic milk chocolate cookies sandwiched together with a honeycomb chocolate mousse. Also on the menu are gluten-free peanut butter and oat cookies, as well as a new and exclusive raspberry and coconut combination. Three types of milk will also be on offer, including cereal milk flavoured with either Coco Pops or Frosted Flakes, made exclusively for Selfridges.
4 May: Queen of Hoxton Summer Rooftop
The Queen of Hoxton pub is one of the best rooftop venues in London and this month marks the highly antipated opening of this popular outdoor location. This summer’s Neverland-themed rooftop will invite guests to embrace their inner Peter Pan and head to the Mermaid Lagoon to drink imaginative cocktails such as the Green-Eyed Fairy, Tiger Lilly Poloma and Mermaid shots in clamshells. The food has also had a makeover, with Never Never Land Ribs, the Bangarang Burger and Peter Pan Prawns all appearing on the summer menu.

4 May: Carnaby Style Night
Carnaby Street is famous for its buzzy and eclectic atmosphere and this month is no exception. On Thursday 4 May, over 100 Carnaby brands will be offering 20% discounts to celebrate Carnaby Style Night. Head to the Beetle Juice pop-up for free cocktails while live music and entertainment from skate crew High Rollaz will sure to get you in to the party spirit. Be sure to stick around for dinner as plenty of local restaurants, including Dirty Bones and Le Bab, will be offering discounts.
4 May: Belvedere Spritz Bar, City Garden, Sky Garden
Those looking to embrace the warm weather should head to Sky Garden’s City Garden bar this month to enjoy the pop-up Belvedere Spritz Bar. The exclusive new botanically inspired range of summer cocktails will be served in the herbaceous surroundings of London’s highest garden. Sunset sessions will feature the UK’s best up-and-coming musicians, and the all-day drinking and dining space offers fresh juices, light snacks and beautiful cocktails.

20 May: The BBQ Club
Jimmy Garcia’s pop-ups have become a prominent fixture on London’s dining scene and this month the chef returns with a new hotspot: the BBQ Club on the South Bank. Guests at the two-storey restaurant, which offers striking views of the London skyline, are invited to grill their dishes themselves. Menu options range from charred monkfish to steak and chips. The interactive experience will be led by Jimmy Garcia and his chefs. The rooftop honesty bar will be a big draw, with refreshing cocktails and 10-pint beer kegs for the table. Downstairs the BBQ bar will offer special BBQ boxes, ideal takeaway dinners to enjoy beside the river

22 May: Belgravia in Bloom
This May Belgravia will blossom with a six-day floral festival to coincide with the famous Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show. Over the week many installations will pop up across the area, so expect to see a variety of beautiful floral displays and events. Head to Belgravia between 22 May and 27 May to make the most of the breathtaking displays.
23 May to 28 May: Bluebird Chelsea Flower Show Afternoon Tea
Celebrate the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this month with the arrival of the Blossom Afternoon Tea at Bluebird. Served in the courtyard and restaurant, the new afternoon tea will feature a floral feast with a bespoke choux pastry éclair. The Sky Blue éclair will evoke memories of childhood with violet essence and mixed wild berry mousseline cream and a dash of yogurt. Other bites include savoury and sweet options such as lemon and poppy seed loaf.

24 May: Pergola Paddington Central
White City’s Pergola on the Roof was one of last summer’s top destinations and this month the alfresco drinking and dining experience gets a new foothold in the urban surroundings of Paddington. The new space will be West London’s largest outdoor drinking and dining experience. Set across two floors the venue will welcome cult street-food vendors such Patty & Bun and DF/Mexico, with special menus on offer during the 19-week residency. Regular DJs, live music and lush green design make this one of the ultimate London places to while away a summer afternoon and evening.

26 May: Brixton Beach
The Brixton Rooftop club describes the Brixton area as ‘the gateway to London’s booming food scene’ and this month it will also be the gateway to Cuba with the arrival of Brixton Beach. Guests will be transported to Cuba at this urban beach rooftop fiesta. Immersive day and night parties will kick start the summer complete with DJ sets, summer film screenings, beach BBQs and exercise classes. With exotic designs, top cocktails, sand and beach hits this is the ultimate summer location.

For exotic Peruvian fare this summer head to Señor Ceviche, which has opened a new branch in Fitzrovia’s Charlotte Street. The street is already known for its impressive gastronomic scene and this latest addition is sure to welcome a new wave of discerning clients. The menu will offer national dishes such as ceviche, as well as reflecting Japanese and Chinese influences on Peruvian cuisine. Highlights include the pachamanca pork ribs as well as barbecued scallops and yellowfin tuna. The new spot will also host a weekend brunch offering with sweet potato waffles and crispy lamb shoulder on the menu.
The founders of Bao, one of the best restaurant openings of 2016, are now opening Xu, a new Taiwanese restaurant and bar. The new two-storey space will reflect the rich history and culture of Taiwan. Top dishes range from smoked Taiwanese sausage to sho pa chicken, served alongside street-food delicacies such as pan-fried dumplings and pancakes filled with beef short rib aged for 40 days. Duck & Waffle is one of London’s most popular restaurants, thanks to its 24-hour opening policy and striking views across the city. This month, Duck & Waffle Local will open in St James’s Market, offering a duck-centric menu in a more relaxed environment. The restaurant’s well-known confit duck leg on a waffle with fried egg and maple syrup remains on the menu, alongside new dishes.
