Swatch celebrates the Year of the Goat

Inspired by the Chinese zodiac, Swatch’s new watch symbolises good fortune for its wearer

Swatch is a watch brand that is always open to embracing Chinese New Year. This year, it celebrates the Year of the Sheep – also known as the Year of the Goat – with its new The Goat’s Keeper watch.

In Chinese culture, the sheep or goat (the Chinese word is the same for both) is synonymous with peace and harmony and is also a symbol of wealth and prosperity. In ancient times, some even lived in rich households where they were known as Ji Yang – lucky goats.

The colourful Swatch New Gent-style watch features a goat on its purple, blue and gold dial and strap, and even the box boasts shiny gold dots swirling around a goat’s head. This timepiece is the perfect way to celebrate the Chinese New Year and its themes of wealth, prosperity and good fortune for the year ahead.
