‘I feel extremely connected to this area and am very fond of it so I was incredibly thrilled to be able to stock my clothes at Hostem. I feel that Hostem is an original space and shopping concept. It’s designed to go beyond a purchasing exchange and is a submersive experience. The space is not only a continuation of the brands stocked here but is an addition to their values and visions.
‘When the womenswear buyer Christie Fells first got in touch about stocking my designs she was so modest about what the new floor was going to look like. When I came to see it I was completely taken aback by this incredibly tasteful space hidden in the depths of east London.
‘I think London has brought a great sense of realism to my work. When I was a teenager, I was very taken with the fantasy of the Parisian fashion scene but after living and working in London for so long I feel my work holds a balanced mixture of these two amazing cities.
‘I don’t like to choose favourites from collections as my opinion of each piece changes as time progresses. Currently I have been wearing the Ghost Net long-sleeved jacket.
‘I moved to London when I was 19 and shared a flat on Arnold Circus, just at the top of Redchurch Street. Since then it has changed a great deal, but has definitely kept its same beating heart of creativity – it’s just an older more mature version. I remember the Hostem building, it definitely didn’t look this chic back then!
