Hannah Lewis,

Inspired by Britain’s proud aeronautical history, in particular the renowned RAF Spitfire fighter plane, luxury accessories specialist Aspinal of London has teamed up with British supermodel David Gandy on a capsule collection of travel accessories.

Aspinal’s trademark excellence in quality and craftsmanship is combined with Gandy’s signature elegant, masculine style for this chic collaboration. The range offers everything the modern man needs to travel smoothly, whether for business or pleasure. Holdalls come in various sizes to suit different trip types and lengths; suit holders and briefcases cater to business trips; wash bags, travel packs, passport holders and the like add a stylish touch to travel essentials.

The Spitfire, which was designed in the 1930s, was the most agile and beautiful RAF aircraft of its day. The plane and its pilots came to symbolise victory and national pride and the Spitfire remains a beloved British icon to this day. For the Aerodrome collection, elements of the aircraft have directly inspired certain design features. Several pieces, for example, feature a lock which is an exact copy of the actual Spitfire Mk1 firing button. Elsewhere in the collection, Gandy and Aspinal take inspiration from aeronautical and military life in general. The core leather, for example, reflects the grain of the traditional pilot’s flying jacket.

Gandy and Aspinal were keen for each of the 18 pieces in the collaboration to complement the others, thus the colour scheme is restricted to a few classic shades; rich brown, khaki, navy and tan, finished with silver details. Similarly, the classic choice of colours means each piece will blend seamlessly with your current wardrobe. This is a masculine, functional and stylish collection perfect for the frequent flier and keen traveller.
