The Women’s Designer Galleries at Selfridges London have been unveiled as the shopping destination for the contemporary, sophisticated woman. The modern, neo-classical space, inspired by the architecture of the century-old department store, has eight dedicated boutiques representing Chanel, Prada, Lanvin, Céline, Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Dries Van Noten.
The boutiques surround a central space which includes the Edit by Selfridges, featuring collections from Rick Owens, Maison Martin Margiela, Comme des Garçons, Junya Watanabe and Gareth Pugh, among others. By presenting new and established designers alongside each other, Selfridges aims to encourage customers to personalise their wardrobe using directional pieces from multiple design houses – creating a look individual to them.
High-tech, daylight-filled fitting rooms have video screen mirrors with inbuilt cameras, allowing movement, colour and fit to be compared with minimal fuss. Images can even be emailed to a friend for feedback and the confirmation of a new look. In the Women’s Designer Galleries, the modern woman is free to browse, relax and select pieces from collections by the very best British and international luxury designers, many of which are exclusive to Selfridges in the UK.
