During the 16th century, the town of İznik was the centre of ceramic tile production in the Ottoman Empire. Renowned for their brilliant hues of blue, red and turquoise, among other colours, İznik’s magnificent quartz tiles adorned mosques, palaces and imperial buildings. The İznik Foundation has revived this art form, which had been lost over the years, and produces stunning tiles and ceramics using traditional techniques. Decorated with timeless Ottoman designs and patterns, each tile is a work of art.
