Where do you live?
In Istanbul, in Galata.
What do you like most about your neighbourhood?
I love Galata because I really love being involved in a very historical place. You can just see the touch of history: in the buildings, the streets, everywhere. It’s just like something about the past is so important for me. I live in Galata, my shop is in Galata, my atelier is in Galata.
If you had all the money in the world, where would you live?
I would stay in Galata, because I have an amazing view.
What’s your favourite store in Istanbul?
Ümit Ünal's store, Doors, is a very special store for me.
What are your favourite places to go out?
For me, Babylon is the best place to go out and listen to nice music. Asmalimescit and Tünel, that area, is the best place to go and eat and have fun.
Where do you take friends who are visiting from out of town?
Again, I love Asmalimescit for rakı-balık, that kind of typical Turkish meal. For a nice meal I would take them to Leb-i Derya , which is a very nice place for modern, good food. In Galata, there are very nice small cafes, like Mavra.
What’s your favourite museum?
Istanbul Modern is the best.
Do you have a favourite walk?
I really love the Asian side, the beach. Galata is just too busy to have a walk, but the Asian side is a perfect place for that.
Do you have any secret spots in Istanbul?
There are no secret places in Istanbul! But outside Istanbul, the Princes’ Islands: Büyükada. There are so many nice secret places there.
What can’t you live without?
My friends and my art and self-expression.
