Refresh and revive: Brew Coffee Works

As a crossroads for trade and commerce for thousands of years, Istanbul has made the most of its ties to Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Over time the city has perfected its unique blend of east-meets-west and nowhere is this more evident today than in Istanbul’s cafés and coffee houses

Sally Ashley-Cound ,

Tucked below the imposing Legacy Ottoman Hotel in Istanbul’s Eski Şehir (Old City) is Brew Coffee Works, a contemporary-style coffee shop influenced by the city’s European ties. This historic part of the city is known for its ancient bazaars, palaces, mosques, museums and Turkish baths, and Brew Coffee Works provides a modern contrast to the area’s other cafés and eateries.

Using 100% Arabica beans from Brazil, Guatemala, Columbia and Ethiopia, the baristas at Brew Coffee Works take coffee very seriously, but at the same time the coffee shop is a relaxing environment in which to read the newspaper or people-watch.

Alongside the familiar cappuccinos and espressos, Brew Coffee Works also serves cakes, brownies and desserts as well as affogato – vanilla ice cream with an espresso shot on top – the perfect sweet pick-me-up!
