Istanbul’s İstinye Park shopping mall

Since the 1980s Istanbul’s residents have embraced the idea of indoor shopping centres and now nearly every neighbourhood in the city has one. Here’s our guide to İstinye Park, which stands out with its mix of cultural, traditional and modern influences

Sally Ashley-Cound,

One of Istanbul’s most spectacular shopping centres, İstinye Park is home to nearly 300 international and home-grown stores as well as eating places which centre around three main areas; the grand rotunda, the lifestyle centre and the bazaar.

In the grand rotunda is a four-level entertainment space with water sculptures at the centre, while the lifestyle centre acts as an open-air town square and is lined with the boutiques of some of the world’s top designer brands such as Michael Kors, Hermès, Dior and Burberry.

Turkish architecture and styling distinguishes the bazaar from the rest of the modern shopping centre and acts as a traditional market place where visitors can sample Turkish cuisine from food stands and restaurants, including Borsa, one of Istanbul’s finest restaurants, which was founded in 1927.
