Istanbul’s Forum shopping centre

Since the 1980s Istanbul’s residents have embraced the idea of indoor shopping centres and now nearly every neighbourhood in the city has one. Here’s our guide to Forum, which is located in Istanbul’s Bayrampaşa district and houses an aquarium and an ice museum as well as shops and department stores

City Guide
Sally Ashley-Cound,

One of Istanbul’s newest shopping malls, Forum is located in Istanbul’s Bayrampaşa district and opened in 2009. Stores at the 495,000-square-metre site include the Istanbul branches of Ikea, the Swedish furniture megabrand, Decathlon, which stocks equipment and clothing for almost every sport, and homeware and DIY store Praktiker. Forum is also the home of Turkuazoo, Turkey’s first aquarium, and ice museum Magic Ice.

Spend a day or even a weekend at Forum, exploring the mall’s local and international clothing stores, which include Marks & Spencer, Zara, C&A and Saturn electronics, as well as eating at its multitude of restaurants and cafes. Once you’ve enjoyed the shops and admired the aquarium, you can settle down to relax in front of one of the 10 movie screens.
