At Istanbul’s coolest bar, drinks are served ‘in the rocks’ in surroundings built with intricately carved blocks of ice shipped from the Scandinavian Peninsula’s Torne River. A venture of the original Icehotel in Sweden, Istanbul’s Icebar was designed by professional ice artists and is open year-round. After (literally) chilling out in the bar, where thermal suits are provided against the -5 degree cold, patrons can warm up in the adjacent room-temperature lounge. In a nod to local culture, the Turkish national spirit, rakı, is served in addition to more traditional vodka drinks. Reservations are recommended for this intimate venue.
