A life in Art

Vanessa H. Larson,

The Doğançay Museum is devoted to the work of internationally-known contemporary Turkish artist Burhan Doğançay, whose prolific artistic career spans from the 1950s to the present. The museum showcases an overview of Doğançay’s oeuvre, from his early drawings and watercolours to his celebrated mixed-media collage series inspired by urban walls and his trompe l’oeil Ribbons paintings. Housed in a historic 150-year-old building in the lively Beyoğlu district, the museum also has a small shop offering limited-edition souvenirs based on the artist’s work.
