Tucked away in the narrow streets of the lakeside Seefeld district of Zürich, No 2 is a haven of interior and beauty products as well as emerging designers. Owners Dominique von Albertini and Adrienne Purkert talk about their wide-ranging store and its charming and unique setting

‘No 2 is located next to the lake with a lot of restaurants, bars and galleries nearby. Seefeld is one of the city’s most beautiful areas. It is home to many expats who make the district even more interesting. Besides that, there are a lot of new projects starting all the time, such as the Razzia restaurant and the Mühle Tiefenbrunnen cultural centre. We are more than happy to have our oasis in this vibrant, exclusive area.’

‘There are four sections at the little space where we are located. No 2 sells fashion for women and men including Stella Jean, Cote, MSGM, Karen Walker, Kitsuné, Alexander Olch and Hardy Amies. Tiger-fink sells fashion and toys for children from labels such Oilily, Kenzo, Oshkosh and Petit Bateau as well as the Tiger-fink label itself. No 2 Atelier sells vintage furniture, home accessories, books from Assouline and Gestalten, tableware from Falcon and much else. From March to September, Kafi Höfli offers freshly made organic food in the most beautiful courtyard – it is a real oasis for stressed townsfolk.’

‘We are frequently asked “what makes your store special?” and we still don’t have a complete answer. It’s partly the mix and selection of labels we carry. I think it’s also the atmosphere we like to create – we rebuild our store from time to time, without the need for perfection. I guess you have to visit the store to see. We are not a showroom where people are afraid to touch anything. We want visitors to feel what we felt when we selected our products: we want them to appreciate a very special material; the sharp line of a dress; the thick wool of a tie; the 200-year-old wooden table.’
