Bally and artist Olaf Breuning collaborate at Art Basel

Sally Ashley-Cound,

Artist and photographer Olaf Breuning’s humorous and quirky work has been channelled by Bally creative directors Michael Herz and Graeme Fidler into a line of fun and vibrant accessories. The Bally Love #2 capsule collection is inspired by an illustration by Breuning of a photograph he took at Art 42 Basel in 2011.

The bright colours and motif of the Swiss-born artist’s illustration run through the Bally Love #2 collection, which includes women’s ballerina shoes, men’s loafers, handbags, scarves, iPad cases and key chains.

The Bally Love #1 collection was designed by another Swiss artist, Philippe Decrauzat, in 2010 and featured muted black-and-white graphical designs. Olaf Breuning’s Bally Love #2 started to take shape at last year’s Art Basel when he covered models in white paint and dressed them in coloured wigs, gloves and shoes. The collection is available to buy just in time for Art 43 Basel, which started yesterday.
