Where do you live?
On the island of Kungsholmen.
What’s the best thing about your neighbourhood?
It’s close to my studio in Södermalm and all the shops downtown, yet it’s still calm and mellow.
If money were no object, where would you live?
At some point I’d like to live in Gamla stan, the old town. A 16th-century loft with a terrace overlooking the water would be nice!
What do you like about Stockholm?
The closeness to water everywhere is fantastic.
And what do you dislike?
Stockholm has very strict regulations to preserve old buildings and the urban landscape. As an architect I think the city should allow more contemporary architecture. We need new buildings to preserve in the future!
Which are your favourite Stockholm boutiques?
There are some great Swedish fashion labels; I love the Acne store on Norrmalmstorg and the Hope shop on Norrlandsgatan. Also check out Our Legacy’s store in Södermalm.
And your favourite design stores?
ROOM on Hötorget has a great collection of design products and Upplandsgatan, close to Odenplan, is the best area for vintage stuff.
Where do you like to dine out?
One on my favourite places is Matkultur on Erstagatan. The menu changes with the seasons, but they usually cook great lamb. Tabbouli on Norra Agnegatan, next to my studio, is a great Lebanese restaurant. Order mezze to share.
Which are your favourite bars?
Indigo on Götgatan is fun, with a crazy vintage interior; Morfar Ginko on Swedenborgsgatan has inexpensive Cava and across the street is the Half Way Inn, a nice, shabby neighbourhood pub with good beer and a decent hamburger.
Where do you go on special occasions?
Somewhere new! There are new restaurants and bars opening in the city all the time.
Where do you take friends from out of town?
Out on a boat to the archipelago. Grinda island is an hour from the centre of Stockholm and has a cosy inn with a great restaurant.
Which is your favourite cultural destination?
The photography museum Fotografiska on Stadsgårdshamnen is great and it has generous opening hours.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I’m training for the Stockholm Marathon in June and a few other races during the summer, so I spend quite a lot of my spare time in running shoes.
