Introducing Soohyang, a brand that has achieved cult status in Seoul with its delightful millennial-pink branding and gorgeous-smelling products

Soohyang means excellent fragrance and the brand’s eponymous founder, Kim Soohyang, always knew she was destined to create her own fragrance company. Launched in 2013, Soohyang started life in a small store in Seoul and, despite only being promoted through word of mouth, achieved cult status in the city. The store originally opened in the Yongsan district, at Itaewon 565 – also the name of the brand’s signature fragrance – and its perfume collection proved so popular that, in 2014, the label opened its Villa Soohyang flagship in the Gangnam area.

At the heart of the Soohyang range is its collection of 33 scented candles, including Gangnam 8, Champagne Supernova, Sleep Well, Raindrops and the brand’s best-selling candle, Itaewon 565. The candles are made using high-quality 100% soy wax, meaning they are smoke-free, and they are presented in beautiful pink and black branded boxes.

Founder Soohyang believes that a fragrance should reflect the characteristics of the space it is being used in. She explains that, “like an outfit that fits perfectly, or a moving piece of music, a sensitively chosen fragrance can conjure up memories and meaning that last a lifetime”. She understands the various factors that can occur to make us choose a different scent, from seasonal considerations to changes in circumstance, which is why she has created this stunning range of scents, which can also be blended to suit every taste.
