This month department store Takashimaya commemorates its 20th year with an extra-special celebration. As well as saluting the loyalty of its clients over the past two decades, the store will also show its appreciation to all Singaporeans for their generosity following the disastrous earthquake that devastated the east of Japan in March 2011.
Takashimaya Singapore will present an exhibition themed around hope and gratitude to reflect the reconstruction of the area. The store will also share optimism and hope by introducing the Miracle Piano, which was swept away and damaged in the 2011 tsunami, then given a new lease of life following restoration work by Hiroshi Endo, a local piano tuner. The Miracle Piano is poignantly representative of the trauma suffered by Japanese victims and the concerted effort they then made to rebuild their homes and reconstruct their lives. It also symbolises their hope for a new future.
Alongside the special commemorative events, during October customers at Takashimaya will be entered into prize draws and will be able to claim exclusive gifts with purchases.
