Gemma Latham,

Sunshine, showers, swimwear and shoes: ModaLisboa Legacy, Lisbon Fashion Week SS15, had it all. A sunny first day descended into thunderstorms by the end of day two, but that didn’t deter the fashion crowds from showing their support for the spring/summer 2015 presentations.

ModaLisboa showcased collections from established Portuguese designers such as Filipe Faísca and Nuno Gama alongside up-and-coming talent given a platform by Sangue Novo. Local and international press were in attendance to see the collections coming out of Portugal, a country with a rich heritage in clothing creation.

Trends such as white and orange, textured fabrics, sporty tailoring and flat footwear in abundance echoed those seen in New York, London, Milan and Paris, while elements of traditional Portuguese craftsmanship and multi-ethnic models referenced Portugal’s cultural diversity and colourful landscape. From minimal elegance to loud-and-proud prints, dinner suits to swimwear, there are Portuguese designers catering for an array of style aesthetics to be discovered in Lisbon.
