Van Cleef & Arpels high jewellery exhibition in Japan

Van Cleef & Arpels brings high jewellery to Japan’s creative city of Kyoto in an exhibition showcasing fine French jewellery design and Japanese craftsmanship

Marina Nelson,

Mastery of an Art: Van Cleef & Arpels - High Jewelry and Japanese Crafts at Momak (National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto) is a unique exhibition in the heart of Kyoto, Japan. It showcases the precision of French high jewellery design and the beauty of Japanese craft. Van Cleef & Arpels details its high jewellery history from 1906 to the present day in one section. In another, high jewellery is compared with accomplished Japanese craft from the Meiji era, 1868 to 1912, ranging from metalwork to ceramic making. A third section offers a contemporary fusion of Japanese craft with high jewellery.

The exhibition is open until 6 August.
