Hostaria da Franz
A favourite of celebrities including Nicolas Cage, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Hostaria da Franz, one of the most famous restaurants in Venice, is located a five-minute walk from San Marco square. The dining experience is exquisite, with a wide variety of traditional Italian dishes on offer, including a great selection of seafood. It comes as no surprise that demand for a table here is high, so be sure to make your reservation as soon as you can.

Vecio Fritolin
The welcoming environment of Vecio Fritolin, situated in a former 18th-century tavern a little off the beaten track, is a perfect example of Italian hospitality. Owner Irina Freguia is an avid follower of local tradition and seeks out antique furnishings to give the restaurant a classic Italian feel. She goes to Venice’s Rialto market with head chef Daniele Zennaro every morning to source ingredients, so you can be sure you’re eating only the freshest local produce.

Harry’s Bar
The famous Harry’s Bar in Venice counts Truman Capote, Orson Welles and Charlie Chaplin as past customers. Forget any preconceptions about ‘bar food’; the menu at Harry’s is truly divine, with a range of great pasta and risotto dishes on offer. No meal at Harry’s is complete without a signature house cocktail. Our favourite is the classic Bellini, invented at Harry’s by founder Giuseppe Cipriani in the 1940s.

Osteria da Fiore
Osteria da Fiore, which serves fresh fish and seasonal produce to locals and visitors alike, is run by Mara and Maurizio Martin and their son Damiano. They have turned the former Venetian tavern into one of the most famous restaurants in the city, awarded a Michelin star and renowned for its high-class service and delicious dishes. Chef Mara ensures passion and attention to detail are evident throughout the menu. We recommend the molecche; a traditional Venetian dish of small soft-shell crabs, it’s one of the tastiest options on the menu.
