The elegant, geometric design of the new Stuart Weitzman flagship store in Milan represents the shoe designer’s desire to create something that is as beautiful as it is practical. Zaha Hadid, the architect behind the London Aquatics Centre, built for the 2012 Olympic Games, was a perfect partner, creating bold visionary forms that are both fluid and playful.
Hadid has created a space of juxtapositions, designing two separate zones to enhance the relationship between the customer and the shoe collections – the display units, for example, simultaneously showcase the collections and double up as seating.
The 3,000-square-foot boutique is largely futuristic, with a heavy emphasis on creating a spatial experience. Both the walls and displays are curved to create a unique design premise. This fusion of stunning architecture with Weitzman’s collections makes for a one-of-a-kind retail experience.
