Show report: Jil Sander autumn/winter 2012

by Norain Ahmed

Keeping sophistication and elegance in mind, Jil Sander’s autumn/winter range showed a keen eye for detail using a range of supremely attractive fabrics.

Marking the end of Raf Simons’ tenure as the brand’s creative director, the show was exceptional, with lavish evening gowns, formal office wear, sensual leather skirts and luxurious off-the-shoulder dresses to the forefront. To plain baby pinks, blues and neutral shades, the designer added innovative splashes of rich navy blues and deep reds, the lack of pattern focusing attention on the exquisite cashmere, silk and knitted textiles. Both the smooth chiffon dress or the navy blue evening gown with sleek cut-outs are wardrobe must-haves this autumn/winter.
