Hannah Lewis,

Italian womenswear brand Luisa Spagnoli, established in 1928, is one of the best-known and most successful in the country. Its eponymous founder was one of the great entrepreneurs of her time and had already made waves in the world of confectionery before turning her hand to textiles. Luisa Spagnoli was the first to introduce the use of angora wool for knitwear and a similar passion for innovation has continued throughout the brand’s nine decades.

Still in the hands of the Spagnoli family, the business has grown continually since its launch, and much of this is down to the family’s ability to adapt to new trends and to recognise changes in the market. This skill has reaped rewards and the family has been awarded the prestigious Cavaliere del Lavoro award on two occasions, in 1958 and in 2007. Today, Luisa Spagnoli is a fresh and youthful brand offering fashion-forward apparel with a focus on innovative materials and expert craftsmanship.
