‘Along with my innate passion for fashion and drive for creativity, the inspiration behind Patrizia Pepe is the female universe, which is what inspires my work every day,’ co-founder and creative director Patrizia Bambi remarks. ‘Women and their vibrant soul, made of thousands of shades and talents; that inner beauty coming from their strength, confidence and freedom.’
This female-centric brand has always been driven by women’s requirements and desires rather than by trends. ‘The brand has always been a fashion precursor thanks to its distinctive combination of modern elegance, flawless quality and refined glamour. Our aesthetic is understated yet always connected to the time we live in and to the real needs of women,’ Bambi says. ‘Patrizia Pepe is a mix of style and attitude designed to make you always feel at ease and comfortable.’
When it comes to her muse, Bambi is clear. ‘The Patrizia Pepe woman is a strong and consistent woman, living on the border between urban sophistication and irreverent sensuality. She’s bold and brave, and she knows where she stands. She is not afraid to be ironic or unconventional, as she’s unconditionally free and independent.’
For the autumn/winter 2018/19 collection the brand once again meets the needs of its ultimately diverse muse, ‘playing with different styles and references. Menswear-inspired micro geometries appear next to sensual transparencies, timeless monochromes alternate with sparkling textures, tailored elegance is reinvented through seductive cuts and sporty touches.’
The Patrizia Pepe Milan flagship opened in the city’s fashion district in 2011 and Bambi oversaw every element of the its design. ‘In my role of creative director, I am directly involved in every aspect concerning the style and image of our representative spaces,’ she explains. ‘I pay the utmost attention to our stores as they represent the beating heart of our direct relationship with our clients and followers.’
When it came to the location itself there was no question. ‘Via Manzoni stands right in the centre of the city, surrounded by historical theatres, business offices, contemporary art galleries and the secret gardens of centuries-old buildings. I feel that somehow this street symbolises Patrizia Pepe’s multiple inspirations from art, music, culture and street-style vibrations.’
While the brand is constantly evolving, those inspirations remain key. ‘We have always remained faithful to our roots and DNA while pushing forward the brand’s offering to align with the evolution of the global fashion scene and with the modern customer’s expectations,’ says Bambi.
What’s next for the brand that has become so ingrained in the consciousness of Italian fashion? ‘The future holds a constant quest for creativeness and innovation,’ predicts Bambi. ‘We will continue to shape diversified collections and contents to be even more inspiring and aspirational, also through exclusive initiatives and collaborations with the world of music.’ Examples include projects with singer Dua Lipa.
Customers can discover the very best of the new collection in the Via Manzoni store. According to Bambi there is one particularly perfect combination to look out for. ‘The embellished bomber or leather jackets, the floral dresses, the Love shoulder bags and the glitter sneakers!’
