Apple debuts the iPad Air

Weighing 450g, the iPad Air is sure to become the new tablet of choice

Katie Ramsingh,

Less than a month since the release of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c comes Apple’s latest tablet launch, the iPad Air. Thinner and 28% lighter than the fourth-generation iPad, the new iPad Air features the power-efficient Apple-designed A7 chip with 64-bit desktop-class architecture, ultrafast wireless with faster built-in Wi-Fi and the newly designed iOS 7.

The iPad Air’s Retina display makes web pages, text, images and video look incredibly sharp and realistic, while the new power-efficient A7 chip allows the battery to be even smaller, doubling its performance and maintaining up to 10 hours of battery life.

The iPad Air with Wi-Fi will be available in 6GB, 32GB or 64GB versions with a silver or space-grey back from 1 November. Stores will be open from 8am but you may want to start queuing now if Apple’s previous product launches are anything to go by.
