Five of the best bars in Florence

After soaking up the history and artistic riches that Florence has to offer, why not relax and unwind with a drink in one of the city’s many bars? Here are our five of our favourites

City Guide
Katie Ramsingh,

The St Regis Bar
With show-stopping décor featuring fresco-style paintings, the St Regis Bar is the perfect place to experience true Italian glamour. With a bar stocked with every alcoholic drink you could dream of, the experienced bartenders can conjure up a cocktail to your personal tastes. We recommend one of the exclusive St Regis Rituals, where Champagne or Bloody Marys come served with the chef’s finest creations.

JK Lounge
Whether you’re looking for an aperitif, an expertly made cocktail or a glass of fine wine, the JK Lounge offers a super-stylish venue. Make the most of the Italian sun with a relaxing drink on the roof terrace before making your way downstairs to the club-like Pink Room in the evening. With its pop art and long sofas, it’s the perfect place to party the night away.

La Terrazza
A place to see and be seen, the rooftop La Terrazza bar on the top floor of the Torre dei Consorti, part of the Hotel Continentale, is a must-visit when in Florence. With amazing views of the Arno, Brunelleschi’s Duomo, San Miniato al Monte, Palazzo Vecchio and Forte di Belvedere, there’s no better vantage point from which to take in the sights of Florence with a cool drink in hand.

La Terrazza, Hotel Continentale, Vicolo dell’Oro 6R, 50123 Florence, +39 055 2726 5806

Dei Frescobaldi
Although known to many primarily as a restaurant, Dei Frescobaldi, which overlooks one corner of the Piazza della Signoria, is also a great place for a drink. Try one of the wines from the extensive list, nearly all of which are available by the glass as well as by the bottle, and linger for some of the traditional Tuscan cuisine.

Dei Frescobaldi, Via dei Magazzini 2R-4R, 50123 Florence, +39 055 284724

Harry’s Bar
Harry’s Bars are famous around the world for their celebrity clientele and the Florentine edition is no different, with everyone from Elizabeth Taylor and Paloma Picasso to Paul Newman and Robin Williams having had a drink here. As well as its signature Bellini cocktail, Harry’s also has a vast variety of wines and spirits on offer and the bartenders can create just about any drink you can think of.
