Jean Paul Gaultier pops up at de Bijenkorf

Coinciding with his exhibition at the Kunsthal Rotterdam, the celebrated fashion designer has opened a pop-up boutique in de Bijenkorf, one of Rotterdam’s leading department stores

Sally Ashley-Cound,

For one month only, John Paul Gaultier has opened a pop-up boutique in one of Holland’s premier department stores.

Situated on the ground floor of de Bijenkorf Rotterdam, the boutique was opened by Gaultier himself and stocks products displaying many of his most influential signature styles: blue-and-white Breton-striped T-shirts, luxury leather goods featuring tattoo prints, and sailor-style jewellery and accessories such as umbrellas and key chains.

The pop-up boutique in de Bijenkorf has been installed to coincide with the opening of the exhibition The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk at the Kunsthal Rotterdam.

On display are more than 140 of the French designer’s provocative and bold creations from the beginnings of his career in the early 1970s to the present.

Standout sections of the show include Gaultier’s lingerie collections and his work for films, concerts and theatres, which feature iconic designs created for Lady Gaga and Madonna.

What better way to spend the day than browsing an art gallery, marvelling at couture fashion and finishing off with a spot of shopping?
