Wempe’s Chronometerwerke Glashütte

The Chronometerwerke unites the company’s traditions of building ships’ chronometers and watchmaking

Sally Ashley-Cound,

Wempe has released the Chronometerwerke Glashütte i/SA wristwatch. After five years of development work at Germany’s only official testing centre for chronometers in the former observatory in Glashütte, this new watch unites the company’s renowned tradition of building ships’ chronometers with the hallmarks of Glashütte watchmakers.

Available in both stainless steel and 18-carat yellow gold, the round case has a diameter of 43mm and a thickness of 12.5mm, designed to house the new Glashütte hand-wound movement. Two versions of the hour markers are available in this new edition: one with Roman numerals and one with Arabic numerals.

The Chronometerwerke Glashütte i/SA is also available as a limited edition with wedge-shaped hour markers to celebrate Hellmut Wempe’s 80th birthday and the launch of the new watch. This edition will be available in a limited number of 60 watches in stainless steel and 20 with a gold case, both models with Hellmut Wempe’s signature on the back.
