In 1821, just a year after landing in Hamburg from Scotland, John Douglas Sharp set up his soap factory in the city’s crowded warehouse district. Nearly 200 years later, the soap producer has morphed into Douglas Parfümerie and now has more than 1,200 stores in over 20 countries.
To honour its founder, and its history of using scents and formulas from all over the world, Douglas Parfümerie has created the JS Douglas Söhne bodycare series, which features revitalising and refreshing aloe vera from Mexico, lemon balm from the eastern Mediterranean to stimulate circulation and nourishing and healing shea oil from Africa.
Series one: aloe vera and prickly pear
Aloe vera is the queen of medicinal plants and is used to add moisture, cool and leave skin feeling fresh and radiant. Prickly pear nourishes the skin and keeps moisture in for a long-lasting refreshing feel.
Series two: lemon balm and ginger
In ancient Greece lemon balm was thought of as an elixir of life and it’s easy to see why as the fresh citrus aroma invigorates body and mind. Ginger, with its circulation boosting and anti-inflammatory properties, has been used as a medicinal herb for thousands of years in the Far East.
Series three: vitamins and shea oil
Protect against premature ageing and eliminate rough spots with shea oil and vitamins A and E. Extracted from the nuts of African shea nuts and with a very high fat content, shea oil makes skin soft and smooth while the vitamins strengthen skin to make it more resilient.
