How long have you been connected to Frankfurt and how has the city changed in that time?
I have been visiting it for more than 15 years; my sister lives in the city. Since it’s become the Euro capital, it has become a cool, international metropolis with one of the biggest airports in Europe.

I am the editor and founder of Achtung, Germany’s directional fashion magazine. I am also the men’s fashion critic for Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Germany’s best newspaper.
How would you describe your style?
Weathered, tailored elegance.
Which items and brands do you have most of in your wardrobe?
Berluti shoes, Cerruti T-shirts, APC jeans and anything designed by Stefano Pilati – now the creative director of Italian luxury brand Agnona and head of design at Ermenegildo Zegna.
What are your grooming essentials?

Which eateries and restaurants do you adore?
Café Wacker: the best coffee in town. Groessenwahn: a real German neighbourhood restaurant with great food. Villa Merton: its food has been called ‘Nova Regio’ to describe the creative use of local ingredients, and it has a Michelin star. Lohninger: Mario Lohninger is a wonderful Austrian chef who comes up with innovative dishes seasoned with incredible vinegar by Gegenbauer.
Who are your Frankfurt style pin-ups?
Look out for the Versace-clad ladies shopping on Goethestrasse who hail from Taunus, the area where Germany’s rich congregate.
Which is your favourite view?
Looking at the river Main early in the day or at dusk.

Along the Main river from the city centre to the outer districts – it’s calm, beautiful and safe.
Which cultural centres shouldn’t be missed?
Frankfurt is home to Max Hollein, one of the best art curators in Europe. He works at Schirn Kunsthalle and always puts on great, inspiring shows.

Go to the district around the main train station. It has some of the coolest bars in Germany, such as Lido on Moselstrasse … For dancing, though, dive into Robert Johnson, an intimate club with a small dancefloor, run by Ata Macias and Sebastian Kahrs. The club also has a record label, Live at Robert Johnson, with vinyl and CD mixes.

Head to Heidelberg and lose your heart.

I recommend René Storck for beautiful tailoring and purist lines for men and women.
