Frankfurt’s Foto Rahn, founded in 1910, has a long association with Leica cameras, having worked with Oskar Barnack, inventor of the iconic camera, and Ernst Leitz.
Still owned by the Rahn family, it has recently gone back to its roots to re-incorporate its fascinating heritage into its contemporary operations. Its Leica Gallery, an exhibition space in the same former bank building as the retail space on Frankfurt’s Am Salzhaus, is a celebration of Foto Rahn and Leica’s shared photographic history.
The store itself offers everything from cameras and accessories to literature and art on the theme of photography. Aiming to welcome all, it caters for every level of camera enthusiast, with lessons for novices and antique auctions for the seasoned collector.
