New Tootie bag marks Jil Sander retrospective

As the Jil Sander: Präsens exhibition opens at Frankfurt’s Museum der Angewandte Kunst, we take the opportunity to look at a limited capsule collection created by Jil Sander’s creative directors

Ginger Rose Clark,

The new retrospective dedicated to Jil Sander at Frankfurt’s Museum Angewandte Kunst runs from 4 November 2017 to 6 May 2018. It looks at the designer’s entire body of work – which, besides fashion, includes forays into product design, gardens and architecture – through multi-media installations. The exhibition focuses exclusively on the German designer, and Lucie and Luke Meier, the recently appointed creative directors of the eponymous brand, have created a Tootie capsule collection to mark the occasion.

In celebration of the German designer’s work, the Meiers have re-edited a bag Jil Sander designed for her prefall 2013 collection. Prensented as part of the duo’s inaugural collection for SS18, the Tootie bag completely encapsulates the brand’s aesthetic, both now and as it was under Jil Sander herself. Its pared-back look features clever design twists such as a handle that sits on the side, rather than the top. The gusseted bag is available in white, black, red or silver.

A worthy celebration of one of Germany’s most famous designers that also heralds the beginning of a new chapter for the fashion brand, the reinvented Tootie bag makes a great statement piece to add to your wardrobe. See it on show at the exhibition, or shop it at selected Jil Sander stores, including the boutique on Frankfurt’s Goethestrasse.
