5 exciting new stores in Frankfurt

From a leather goods stockist to a new fashion boutique for women, we’ve rounded up five of our favourite new stores to open in Frankfurt recently

City Guide
Theresa Harold and Fani Mari,

Frankfurt is one of Germany’s most exciting cities, whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure. The array of boutiques on offer is exemplary, with new stores opening all the time – we’ve picked five of our favourites from recent months.

German luxury accessories brand MCM will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2016. In anticipation of the momentous occasion, the company has opened its largest store in Europe. Located in the centre of Frankfurt, near the old opera house, the flagship store covers 340 square metres over two floors, with one section dedicated to a VIP lounge decked out in white furniture. Clients can explore the MCM universe, from the iconic Heritage line to the current-season offerings and special collaborations. The opening of the Frankfurt store brings the total number of MCM shops to 300 in 32 countries worldwide.

Wellendorff has been providing exquisitely made pieces to discerning jewellery lovers – including several kings, queens and empresses – since 1893, and now has boutiques worldwide, from Tokyo to Las Vegas. Among its most recent openings is the elegant boutique on Frankfurt’s prestigious Goethestrasse, which provides an appropriately elegant showcase for the brand’s striking 18-carat gold pieces, all impeccably made in Germany. Look out in particular for Wellendorff’s ‘spinning’ rings, made from an eye-catching combination of coloured enamel, gold and diamonds.

Copenhagen-based womenswear company Ganni has opened its first store in Frankfurt. The minimalist design of the interior works perfectly with the brand’s colourful clothing and accessories; light pink and white walls, white rails and display boxes allow the bold prints and solid colours to stand out. Creative director Ditte Reffstrup has transformed the brand into an international name with her high-end contemporary designs, which are inspired by iconic women and by the styles of the past but with a modern touch. It’s no surprise that Ganni’s stylish and wearable designs saw it named Fashion Brand of the Year at the Danish Elle Style Awards in 2014.

Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot has taken its total number of stores in Germany to three with the opening of its first boutique in Frankfurt. The sleek new Goethestrasse emporium follows Hublot’s luxurious new design concept, The Art of Fusion. As the name suggests, it is based on the idea of combining different styles and materials: updated 16th-century motifs on the walls are teamed with contemporary furniture such as leather sofas and handcrafted chairs, while pop art pictures featuring Hublot’s most famous models, add an artistic touch. Tobias Grau
German lighting and interior-design brand Tobias Grau has opened a showroom in the newly built Turm¬Carrée building in the heart of Frankfurt, its seventh in the country. The clean-cut décor – glass, wood and black and white surfaces – provides the ideal backdrop to the innovative designs. The company was founded in 1984 by Tobias Grau, who still runs it with his wife Franziska. The pair focuses on creating LED lights that are not only more energy efficient, but also offer new and exciting design possibilities.
