Best date venues in Berlin

Whether you’re looking for a cocktail bar for a first date or somewhere slightly unusual to make a great impression, our five top locations will be sure to impress your significant other

City Guide
Emily Scrivener,

An eclectic mix of old and new, Berlin is a great city to explore and has some surprisingly romantic spots. From dinner in the clouds to a walk in the city’s oldest park to late-night cocktails, we have picked the best places in Berlin for a Valentine celebration

Freluftkino Insel im Casseopeia

There is little more charming than an old-fashioned date in an outdoor cinema. The summer garden of the Cassiopeia club in the Freidrichshain district is a great way to spend an evening under the stars and is effortlessly romantic. Banish pre-date nerves with a cool cocktail from the bar and head to one of the cosy deckchairs to enjoy the best of independent cinema, including recent German and European art house films. On cooler evening visitors can borrow blankets – the perfect excuse to get a little closer.

Grosser Tiergarten

Why not get off the beaten track and escape Berlin’s city centre in the Grosser Tiergarten? The Grosser Tiergarten is the oldest and largest park in Berlin and is the perfect location for a romantic stroll. Wandering its 520 acres is the perfect way to lose track of time, discovering secret avenues and exploring hidden corners. Once a royal hunting ground, the park is now laced with statues and beautiful flowerbeds. There are cafés but we recommend bringing a picnic to enjoy in your favourite area.

Berliner Furnsehturm

Paris has the Eiffel Tower – but Berlin’s TV tower boasts equally impressive views. The tip of the tower is 368 metres above ground and the panoramic viewing floor at 207 metres gives a fantastic 360-degree view of the entire city. The tower not only offers an incomparable view of the German capital, it also has a restaurant so you can wine and dine in the clouds. This is the perfect venue for lunch if you want to impress your date with your knowledge of the city sights below, or, if you wait until the evening, the lights of the city come alive.

Victoria Bar

A winning combination of artistic interior design and superb cocktails makes Victoria Bar one of the best bars in Berlin and a fantastic place to take a date. The vibe is laid-back, with subdued lighting and a mixed crowd, perfect for after-work drinks. Award-winning bartender Stefan Weber takes a classic approach to mixology, using his skills to create perfectly balanced cocktails. Work your way through the bar’s extensive menu, from sparkling Champagne concoctions to punchy Caribbean-themed drinks.

Cruise on the Spree

A sunset boat ride on a private cruise for two is a sure way to impress, whether on a first date or to celebrate an anniversary. The Spree is a pretty waterway and a tour is a great way to discover the city. Bring a bottle of wine and a blanket or two and enjoy each other’s company along the water – and then why not continue the tour on foot? Head to one of the photoautomaten (photo booths) scattered around the city. They are open 24/7 and their black and white photo strips are a great memento of your time in the city with that special someone.
