Torsten Heine: My Berlin

One half of the design team for Zeha Berlin Torsten Heine joined the brand in 2002 along with Alexander Barré and the pair put their stamp on the label with the Zeha Berlin Streetwear collection of trainers. Since then, the duo has created the Carl Hässner Meisterschuhe which combines Zeha’s sporty designs with the finest Italian leather. He talks to Sally McIlhone about his favourite places in Berlin

In Aschersleben in Germay, a small town in the Harz mountains.

What is the most treasured piece in your wardrobe?
A tailored coat.

What was your most recent expensive purchase?
A leather winter jacket by Michalsky.

Where is your favourite shopping destination?
New York.

Drykorn on Neue Schönhauser Strasse, Mientus (Wilmersdorfer Strasse 73) and Burberry on Kudamm.

Do you have any favourite restaurants?
Herr Rossi (Winsstrasse 11), Chez Maurice (Bötzowstrasse 39) and Sian on Rykestrasse.

Do you have a favourite local café or bar?
Sorsi e Morsi on Marienburger Strasse.

Where do you take out-of-town friends who are visiting?
We go for a long walk through Prenzlauer Berg and Mitte.

Where do you like to celebrate?
Vox Bar (Marlene Dietrich Platz 2)

Do you have a favourite walk in your city?
Along the riverside.

Which is the best landmark, building or tourist attraction?
Museum Island.

And the best museum?
Neue Nationalgalerie.

Do you have any advice for visitors?
Take your time and walk as much as possible to get an idea what the city is like.
