Luxury British brand Mulberry has opened its first standalone Berlin store on Kurfürstendamm and to celebrate has created a biscuit-brown alligator edition of the Willow tote that is unique to the store.
Known for creating other popular ‘it’ bags such as the Alexa, the Bayswater and the Del Rey, Mulberry is one of the most popular international brands from the UK, alongside Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and London Fashion Week favourite Burberry.
Mulberry’s new Berlin location has been designed by British architects at Universal Design Studio and their high standards rival that of the craftsmanship seen in the brand’s bags. Natural materials such as timber, oak and limestone have been used to suggest Mulberry’s rural heritage. A Universal Design Studio spokesperson says the design creates ‘a connection between the store design and Mulberry's dedication to craftsmanship’ and that the store is ‘a welcoming and warm environment.’
Why Berlin? ‘We chose Berlin for the rich culture between the city’s history and its artistic heartbeat,’ says Mulberry CEO Bruno Guillon. ‘We felt that the city’s vibrancy and energy was the ideal complement to the Mulberry brand and our own heritage of craftsmanship and creativity.’
