Sir Savigny Berlin

Part of the Sir hotel group, which boasts properties in Hamburg, Amsterdam, Ibiza and Barcelona as well as Berlin, the Sir Savigny hotel is a hub of eclectic cool in Charlottenburg. Inspired by the district’s past as the literary centre of the city, the hotel’s lobby takes the form of a library, with no formal check-in desk and a plethora of literature and art books filling the walls. The bedrooms continue the theme, featuring works by local artist Katharina Musick, whose creations are painted on pages from German novels. Alongside the literary interiors, the hotel’s other highlight is renowned burger restaurant The Butcher, a draw for guests and locals alike. Hotel Oderberger

Upon entering the Hotel Oderberger, you could be easily forgiven for not realising it is a hotel. This grand, imposing building in Prenzlauer Berg was built in 1898 and was home to a public stadtbad (swimming bath). Officially closed in 1986, the swimming pool and new hotel surrounding it were reopened in 2016 and provide one of the most glamorous swimming locations in the city. The Oderberger’s rooms are modern, minimalist and airy, while the hotel bar’s sumptuous velvet chairs and warm fireplace make a perfect place to escape from Berlin’s cold winter temperatures.

Hotel Zoo

As the name suggests, Hotel Zoo is situated a stone’s throw from the city’s famous zoological gardens. At the edge of trendy Charlottenburg, the renovated 1920s townhouse is filled with high ceilings, glamorous chandeliers and plenty of animal-themed touches. Reinvented by interior designer Dayna Lee in 2015, the hotel is the epitome of elegant luxury. A nod to the 1920s, the speakeasy-themed Grace bar is a perfect spot for a nightcap, while summer evenings are undoubtedly best spent in the hotel’s rooftop bar, which offers unparalleled views of the city.

Henri Hotel

Located just off Kurfürstendamm, Berlin’s most famous shopping boulevard, the Henri Hotel pays tribute to the area’s bohemian past. Housed in a classic German 19th-century building, each room has been beautifully restored to blend the old and the new. While the reception desk staff will hand you a chunky room key straight out of the 1800s, the rooms contain all the mod cons you could ever want. Soho House Berlin

Opened in 2010 as part of the Soho House Group’s European expansion – other branches include Barcelona, Istanbul and newly opened Amsterdam – Soho House Berlin is the epitome of Berlin cool. Located in the trendy Mitte district, the 1920s building was entirely renovated after almost a decade of lying derelict. Offering everything you would expect from a Soho House outpost with a special Berlin twist (think neon signs and cool graffiti), the hotel’s rooftop pool, Cecconi’s restaurant and Cowshed spa are all huge pulls. The rooms are described as tiny, small, medium, big, large and extra-large and there is even a selection of serviced lofts and apartments for those wanting added privacy, all with the classic rustic-meets-modern Soho House aesthetic.
