Van Cleef & Arpels renovates its jewellery workshop

Marina Nelson,

At the heart of Paris’s jewellery quarter is Van Cleef & Arpels’ historic Place Vendôme fine jewellery boutique, complete with a workshop. This hosts regular jewellery courses enabling customers to learn intricate crafting techniques as well as get a sneak peek into the archives. The new workshop, which has taken several years to complete, is twice its original size, allowing the design team to work more closely with the highly skilled in-house craftsmen. The beech workbenches have been enlarged and re-polished, and the lighting has been improved with the extension of the glass roof. Van Cleef & Arpels’ skilled stone-setters are responsible for an array of captivating high jewellery lines, from the Palais de la Chance collection to the pieces on display at the L’Art de la Haute Joaillerie exhibition at Les Arts Décoratifs (to 10 February 2013).
