Get ready for an Indian summer next year with the new Isabel Marant collection. While most Paris Fashion Week designers have so far opted for neutral or deep-toned colours, Marant took summer back to where it belongs – the tropics. Bright red, burnt orange and crisp white joined a collection of paisley-style prints with a hint of embellishment for an evening beach party feel.
Hemlines were short, with a variety of above-the-knee ruffled skirts and toga-style wraparound hems to reinforce the laid-back bohemian-chic look. Tops played to the kimono trend with a selection of loose, cropped kaftan styles, including an evening version encrusted with jewels. Trousers joined the collection later on, playing to the current pyjama print trend.
Marant took a different slant with the addition of silver detailing, contrasting colours and bolder patterns. As we look to next season, we can only hope the weather will be as bright as Marant’s collection.
