Dries Van Noten chose navy blue as the background colour for his new season collection, with fresh floral patterns to add a modern twist. The show opened with a collection of sheer tartan blouses teamed with navy blue sequinned midi skirts, showcasing a loose and androgynous look that was surprisingly flattering.
High notes came from plaid peplum waistcoats, teamed with pieces in contrasting patterns, from floral skirts to purple checked shirts and cocoon-shaped royal blue floral playsuits. The printed pyjama trend was evident throughout the show, with updated styles showcasing varying lengths from skinny crops to loose-fitting boyish trousers.
Hints of deep purple, burgundy and mint green joined the eclectic collection, together with contrasting shirts with rolled-up sleeves, adding a sport-luxe vibe. The dark-toned collection was later lifted with powder-blue ruffled tops, sheer appliquéd boyish jumpers and embroidered skirts, showing that the sporty, androgynous look doesn’t have to be so masculine next summer.
