Riccardo Tisci designs costumes for the Ballet de l’Opéra in Paris

The Italian designer collaborates with the Opéra de Paris

Marina Nelson,

Designer Riccardo Tisci, creative director at Givenchy, has expanded his catalogue by creating all the costumes for a ballet at the Opéra de Paris’ Palais Garnier.

The striking designs, for Maurice Ravel’s Boléro, display Tisci’s romantic side combined with his sense of darkness, as seen in his collections for Givenchy.

Each dancer wears a nude catsuit in tulle, with tulle layers on top appliquéd with white lace details mimicking the human skeleton.

The costumes have been designed to be shed bit by bit, representing the life cycle of animals or flowers losing their petals.
