As Paris Fashion Week draws to a close, we take a look at the standout SS17 trends that emerged. This season all eyes were on Paris to see how several major design houses would cope with new creative direction. Maria Grazia Chiuri, formerly of Valentino, made her Dior debut as the house’s first female creative director. Her catwalk show, held in the Musée Rodin, highlighted the designer’s female-centred approach to fashion; ‘feminist is a recurring word for her’, as her show notes observed. The concept of real women being at the heart of the collections was also seen at Giambattista Valli and Nina Ricci, where collections were multi-faceted, appealing to the many traits of women’s personalities. Trends were thus varied, from technical tailoring to pink dresses and the return of athleisure. Take a look at the top trends to emerge from Paris Fashion Week spring/summer 2017 here.
