9:01am: It’s the final day of Paris Fashion Week and nearly the end of the fashion world’s seasonal insights this time around, but before we say farewell there are three fabulous final shows to see: Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu and Elie Saab.
Tallulah Harlech tweeted: So emotive from the clothes and music and the woman and mood it created just now at @louisvuitton
10:10am: The Louis Vuitton show is one of the most anticipated every season, as Marc Jacobs always delivers an innovative collection with an impressive set to boot. In the past he’s brought his models in on a steam train, had them ride in a fairground and, most recently, had them make their way to the catwalk via giant escalators. For autumn/winter 2013/14 we were taken to a chic Louis Vuitton hotel. The set, which resembled a hotel corridor, allowed models to emerge seductively from behind closed doors in pyjama- and negligée-style dresses covered up by ankle-length wool coats and furs. With a similar set to the Prada show, the Louis Vuitton collection also mirrored Miuccia Prada’s feeling of a modern girl with retro inspirations. The collection was clearly inspired by the 20s yet was thoroughly fresh in its approach; tweeds, sequins, feathers, silks and furs were all used to brilliant effect by Marc Jacobs and his team.
And we can’t talk about a Louis Vuitton show without mentioning the bags – this time, python and fur-covered creations in brilliant jewel tones. As always, they are sure to be sell-outs.
Hilary Alexander tweeted: Pyjama party: Loved Marc Jacobs taking his bow in red PJs after Louis Vuitton show
Harper's Bazaar UK tweeted: Stripe tights and polka dot suits at Miu Miu, plus Marc Jacobs in the front row (still wearing pyjamas)
1.46pm: Prada’s baby sister Miu Miu is all grown up for next season. The label’s signature 60s retro style was updated with young and playful touches such as brightly coloured polka dots and stripes. For a hint of ladylike chic, midnight navy longline coats were buckled for a more structured look. Collars and accessories such as tights also featured polka dot designs, giving an air of childhood innocence. Anyone for a long, pastel yellow, polka dot jacket next season? Oh, we think so!
MOJEH Magazine tweeted: Pretty in #pink at #MiuMiu. The same retro vibe but more modern street-princess than Stepford Wife.
Harrods tweeted: Let the magic commence... @ElieSaabWorld #ELIESAABlive #PFW
3.59pm: Famous for his exquisite gowns, frequently seen on the red carpet, Elie Saab presented a series of alternative, colour-blocking looks for modern women. Plunging V-neck pieces opened the show, teamed with strong, structured trousers, before the collection experimented with colours such as deep aquamarine and plum, with high notes of yellow and crisp white. The accessorising boots, which had gold mirrored soles, added a rough and tough edge to the collection, while Saab played with shapes using lace, chiffon and mesh fabric panels. To end the showcase, a selection of gowns was tailored in slimline shapes, while still retaining Saab’s signature sequin touches. A fitting end to our Paris Fashion Week!
Joey Haribald tweeted: Elie Saab was an absolutely gorgeous show, what an amazing end to PFW. Definitely one of my favorites from the whole season.
