French design houses looked through fashion’s history books for their inspiration this season. Collections threw the standout trends of the 1970s and 80s into sharp relief, bringing them firmly back into 2017. Saint Laurent and Isabel Marant revived the glamour of the 80s with plenty of rhinestones and crystals, modernised for today’s audience with a focus on the Left Bank’s iconic Parisian glamour.
