Just steps away from the city’s first Moncler store, at 5 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, the French-founded brand opens a veritable giant of a store on 26 September – proving it is still going strong, more than 50 years after its creation.
Although Moncler is now headquartered in Italy, it had its beginnings in France, and this new venture – which will act as boutique, headquarters, flagship and showroom – demonstrates a continuing affinity with its geographical roots. Set over six floors, Moncler at 7 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré covers a total of 1,045 square metres. Despite its multiple functions, it is the retail space which is the most exciting, and – unsurprisingly, considering its sheer enormity – the store will house every one of Moncler’s collections, from mainline menswear and womenswear to Moncler Gamme Rouge, Moncler Gamme Bleu, Moncler Grenoble and Moncler Lunettes. Oh, and also accessories – so many accessories.
Opening during Paris Fashion Week, the store is as stylish as the city’s fashion-lovers, with Carnian grey stone slabs paired with smoky wooden panelling and ceiling beams. Unique window displays invite you into a winter wonderland, complete with artificial snow and polar bears, as mannequins sit idly by – untroubled by their ursine companions – modelling the best of the season’s winter wears. Wonderfully strange and totally Moncler.
